Welcome
to the beautiful island of Kauai, land of the white sandy beaches, gorgeous
waterfalls, double rainbows, and the most beautiful bay in the island,
Hanalei Bay. Come and kayak, hike the trails of Koke`e Park and the
Kalalau Trail on the Pali above Ke`e beach. In the winter time take
a boat ride and see the humpback Whales, Spinner Dolphins, turtles,
flying fish and the goats on the cliffs above the water. Take a helicopter
ride and view the island from the birds eye view of the waterfalls in
the canyon and mountains of Wai`ale`ale and the opening scene of Jurassic
Park. See the beach of Lumahai where the old favorite movie of the 50's
"South Pacific" was filmed. Go for a romantic walk in the
full moon light on the beach of Hanalei Bay.
The
north shore has some of the most visited spots on the island. Hanalei
Bay town is a couple of blocks to the famous bay with the miles of white
sandy beaches and famous pier. The town is full of restaurants and small
shops and rental spots for kayaks, bikes, snorkeling and surfing items.
Grab a kayak and enter the river at the rental place and go cruising
with your friends and family.
Ke`e Beach at the very end of the road, approximately eight miles from
Hanalei, is not only a great beach to swim and snorkel, but the beginning
of the famous Kalalau Trail, one of the hardest trails you will want
to hike. You can take a day hike to the beach of Hanakapiai and up to
the falls, or get a camping permit and go to the Kalalau Valley, where
once 7,000 Hawaiians lived. You can find fruit trees and other areas
that were used for raising food.
Tunnels
Beach is on the way to Ke`e Beach just before you get to Haena State
Beach and the Dry Cave. It is a great place to just bask in the sun
and snorkel or swim. Just up the road from Haena State each Park are
the Wet Caves. The first is road level and a little further down and
up above is the second cave. The second wet cave is where you will find
the Blue Room.
Caution:
Don't go into the water alone or swim in the caves. Not many of the
beaches have lifeguards. So much to see and so little
time!
